So over the last couple years,

I don’t know if it’s that I’m getting paranoid older or just better educating  myself about what we bring into our bodies,

but I have been pinning All Natural Alternatives  on Pinterest.

Things that we use on a daily basis that come in contact with our skin whether detergents or cleaning agents.

Also going hand in hand are the monetary effects of doing such things as making your own.

So I finally said to myself, “Go and get it done Jenn! I doesn’t help you while it’s sitting on the computer screen!!! “

This is what I found….

This is the Pin I settled on from YellowBrickHome.

I looked at so many variations and I liked the simplicity of this particular recipe….and frankly, look how pretty and fresh it looks!

So I ran off to the store to gather my supplies and was absolutely surprised how easy it was to find them all on the laundry isle of my local grocery store.

Now let me say that this isle can also be daunting sometimes. There is a plethora of  products so put on your looking eyes (that is what I say to my kids when they can’t find something). Now I don’t have any clue how your store is laid out obviously but they may have a tendency to put things in similar locations according to laundering products.

I found the Fels Naptha bar on the top shelf by the fabric softeners. The Borax and the Arm & Hammer Super Washing  Soda by the Oxy Clean area….may or may not help. Worth a shot, right?!

I got 1 box of both the Borax  Laundry Booster and the Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda and 3 bars of Fels Naptha.

The best thing was that when I got to the cashier to pay it all cost me UNDER $7.00!!!

You see, I have FOUR boys….5 if you count the Hubb….which I do=LOTS of LAUNDRY! Which also=LOTS of MONEY spent on laundry detergent!!!

So this was a win win situation if all went planned and I actually liked this homemade equivalent.

First you need to grate your entire Fels Naptha bar. I used my kitchen cheese grater and a glad plastic container. This stuff really looks like cheese when it’s shredded!

DO NOT LET YOUR KIDS MISTAKE THIS FOR SHREDDED DAIRY GOODNESS!

This part is a bit of a quick workout but we are bettering our bodies and budgets, right! So think of all the positives and grate away!

Then mix in ONE cup Borax Laundry Booster and ONE cup Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda, mix and your done!

One regular load of laundry only needs one tablespoon of this mix!

One batch of this stuff will do 40 regular loads of laundry! And I was able to make 3 batches with what I bought…and then some.

Hello! Do the math people….I’d do it for you but I hate math!!! 120+ loads of laundry for $7.oo. You are saving a Ton!

I have been using this now for 3 months and made some for my friend Sarah. We are both hooked!

It smells wonderful, we are saving money and hopefully doing a small part in making more conscious decisions regarding our wellness and our wallets!

I challenge you to give this a try….you never know unless you try!
